PHOTONIC, LUMINATIC: New Slovenian Photography and Video

A presentation of the latest trends in Slovenian photography and a video featuring a selection of artists from the younger and middle generations who have been involved in the wider context of visual art. The photo part of the exhibition is divided into sets of various topics which highlight certain artistic perspectives and methods (e.g. from the viewpoint of documentarism, intimism, etc.), while the video selection presents an integral overview of works denoted by a special title – City Perspectives.
Members of KOLEKTIVA Vesna Bukovec and Metka Zupanič curated a video section of exhibition.
Curator for photography is Dejan Sluga.

The exhibition is a project of Ljubljana based Photon Gallery and it was conceived in order to present new Slovenian photography and video to international scene. So far the exhibition was presented in v K2 Contemporary Art Centre in Izmir, Turkey (September – October 2008), Culture Centre Korotan in Vienna and in Photoport Gallery in Bratislava (May – June 2009). Video section of the exhibition was also presented in the frame of Video in Progress series (Video in Progress 2: City Perspectives) in Photon Gallery in Ljubljana (September 2008) and as special programme of namaTRE.ba 3 project in Trebinje, Bosnia and Hercegovina (September 2009).

The selection of Slovenian videos Video in Progress 2: City Perspectives is part of the special programme of namaTRE.ba 3 project in Trebinje, Bosnia and Hercegovina.
namaTRE.ba is an independent platform for contemporary art (video, film, performance and new media) initiated by artist and curator Igor Bošnjak.
Video in Progress 2: City Perspectives is a selection of 5 videos with the joint characteristic of conceptual research of contemporary society’s peculiarities and of individual comprehension of the urban city reality.
