This video is performed by Joshua and Zachary with their youngest sister Sierra. The performance which was the basis for the edited final product, was unscripted. The video explores the scars left by unresolved mistrust accumulated over the span of a childhood in a very uncommon and often dysfunctional home. The issue of drug use between older and younger siblings’ points to real and significant experiences which still linger and which, to a large extent, has been a big part of her identity. We chose to make this the subject matter to explore and unravel our younger sister’s feelings of mistrust as they relate and have been catalyzed by this specific scenario. We ultimately see the total trust that we have for each other and think it productive to unlock this door with each other. It also helps us all continue to have a sense of humor about our often seemingly catastrophic existences.

Sierra Blood Diaries Vol. 2 is a 2-channel video in which we together with our sister explore methods by which she protects herself living in an often dysfunctional home in the wake of the death of our sister Samantha from a heroin overdose.

The video finds our mother in the act grooming on her many small dogs, a nightly meditative process that she began after the death of her daughter Samantha just over two years ago. The recorded audio is drawn from a CD of old phone messages from Samantha that our mother routinely listens while driving in her car. It is an attempt to illustrate her post-traumatic condition, and to illuminate the endless need and instinct of a mother to nurture.
