About the selection
Contemporary art scene (especially video art) in Bosnia & Herzegovina is very interesting because it presents and deals with some issues, problems and relations between the past – in terms of politics, ideology and history – and nowadays, the present.
NamaTRE.ba project is video project which is a kind of “other” independent video art scene inside Bosnia & Herzegovina, which represents (un)institutional art. NamaTRE.ba is focused on experimental film, video, performance and new media art. Some earlier (few years ago) presentations and screenings of Bosnia & Herzegovina video art was represented by three different varieties: firstly, there were works that refer to the recent war and posttraumatic elements in society, next, there were works that refer to some universal problems and ideas of media and art, and finally, there were works that refer to questions of personal and social identity. This selection (compilation) of video art which I can call “a newer one” will be a part of this year namaTRE.ba project. In a recent period (last two years) artist and film/video makers are constantly trying to “break a rule” and their create works which are no more have references on war of 90’s, posttraumatic elements in society and transitional process from socialistic Yugoslavia to neo liberal capitalism of upcoming EU. In some way younger and middle age artists nowadays are “cleaned” from “90’s art” and “2000 arts” because they are trying to reflect their art to some personal problems and local/global problems of human kind and human worldwide society. Names of all videos presented here: Quisling / Traces of everyday life’s discourse, through fragments of ritual objects / 12 windows / Ten minutes for the existence of art / Trio; and narrative of all videos (if there is a narrative at all?) had kind of catharsis from key words like: war, trauma, guilty, terror and so on…. Because all of this, paradoxically, we can mention that upcoming future on B&H art and B&H society can’t be optimistic and bright, until we again and again made a works which use thematically and by narrative that “fluent” key words that I mention before.

O izboru
Če so pretekla dela obravnavala in predstavljala različna vprašanja, probleme in odnose povezane s preteklostjo – v smislu politike, ideologije in zgodovine, bodo tokrat predstavljena dela drugačna – usmerjena v prihodnost.
